Relay for Life carnival themed fundraising event kicks-off Saturday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The 34th annual Relay For Life will return to the Kern County Fairgrounds in May, but fundraising efforts are set to begin this weekend.

Bakersfield’s Relay for Life is the biggest in the U.S. Its donation page just opened on Sept. 1, and they have already raised over $1,000 . Funds raised at the event stay in Kern, yet have a global impact.

“Our funds are actually used for cancer research, as well as, patient services such as: giving people rides, getting people wigs and showing them how to do their makeup,” Relay for Life event lead, Juan Villalobos said.

Saturday’s family-friendly event will feature various carnival games, food, a dunk tank, music, cancer resources and of course team fundraisers.
