The Bakersfield Californian transitions to a five-day per week newspaper

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Californian announced Thursday that it will transition to a five-day per week newspaper in print and online beginning October 1.

The announcement comes after there were no home deliveries of the Californian Wednesday anywhere in Kern. The TBC didn’t publish a paper at all yesterday leaving print subscribers in the dark.

According to the Californian, the change is happening due to the newspaper’s distributor no longer providing home delivery. The paper will now be delivered by mail Tuesday through Saturday instead. There will be no paper on Sunday and Monday.

Saturday’s paper will now become “a weekend edition” that will include an extended opinion, section, extra comments, and travel pages among other features.
