KCSO arrests man in connection to deadly Oildale shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man in connection to a deadly shooting on Olympic Drive .

Officials with KCSO say Luis Villachana, 44, was arrested in the 300 block of East Euclid Avenue in Shafter on Saturday at about 2 p.m.

Villachana was arrested without incident, according to KCSO.

According to the Kern County in-custody website, Villachana was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, attempted murder, first-degree burglary and other related charges.

The shooting happened on Olympic Drive in Oildale on Aug. 29. One woman was left dead after the shooting and another person sustained minor injuries.

The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the victim in the shooting as Ruth Cummings .

Villachana is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on Tuesday.
