Over 40 animals received new homes during KGET’s ‘Clear the Shelters’

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — For some, pets are apart of the family. On Saturday morning, dozens of people opened a new chapter with a new furry friend.

Both dogs and cats found new homes, with more than 40 animals adopted. Each adopter had their own unique reason for taking in a pet.

For the Morales family, their life hasn’t been the same after one of their dogs passed away. Rachel Morales’ other dog hasn’t been the same either, so she had a plan. “I’m trying to get a dog for my dog!”

Bakersfield Animal Care Center has already taken care of all of the things necessary to have a healthy animal.

“All of our dogs are completely vetted. They’re going to be microchipped and updated on their vaccines and including rabies. And they’re going to be altered so we won’t have to worry about any more accidental litters,” according to BACC Behaviorist, Josh Proctor.
