Crews to reconstruct parts of Union Ave starting this week

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — City construction crews are set to reconstruct Union Avenue from Golden State Highway to Columbus Street starting this week.

Officials said the construction starts Wednesday, Sept. 11, and is expected to last until Dec. 6. Traffic is expected to be impacted from Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The construction work will include removing the existing asphalt and repaving the roadway, sidewalk access ramps will be installed, adjustments of existing manholes and water valves and other related projects, Bakersfield city officials said in a statement.

Lane closures and reductions can be expected. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes through the area.
