Celebration of life set for ‘Dancing Cowboy’ Sept. 14 on Stockdale Highway

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The community is invited to attend a celebration of life for the “Dancing Cowboy,” Marques Morrison, September 14.

Little Ceasers Pizza and the City of Bakersfield are collaborating with the Morrison Family to pay tribute to the lost Bakersfield icon.

Mayor Karen Goh is set to give a special message at 4 p.m. Organizers remind the public that the event is not a vigil, nor a funeral, but a celebration of Morrison’s life.

The celebration is set to take place at the corner of California Avenue and Stockdale Highway from 2 to 5 p.m. DJ Ace in-the-mix will be on-site to uplift participants spirits and Snow Cones will be available to beat the heat.
