20 evaluated for DUI in BPD checkpoint, saturation

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Police Department evaluated a total of 20 drivers for DUI in a checkpoint and saturation patrol on Sept. 13.

The checkpoint was held in the 1800 block of Oak Street from 6 p.m. on Sept. 13 to 1 a.m., according to police. At the DUI checkpoint, a total of 1,123 vehicles were screened.

During the checkpoint, one driver was detained for sobriety influence level, seven drivers were cited for driving without a license and three were cited for driving with a suspended license.

Police say eight vehicles were impounded and two of them were released to license drivers.

During the saturation patrol, 34 traffic stops were conducted. A total of 19 drivers were evaluated for DUI and 11 were issued citations. Four vehicles were impounded for license violations.
