Taft College President terminated without cause

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Taft College unexpectedly terminated its President and Superintendent of only months after a closed-door meeting this week.

According to a spokesperson with Taft College, the Taft College Board of Trustees voted to terminate Superintendent and President Dr. Rafe Trickey Jr.

The vote to terminate Trickey was unanimous and he was terminated without cause.
Trickey took over the position in June and no reason was provided to 17 News as to why Trickey was terminated.

The Board appointed Dr. Todd Hampton as acting Taft College Superintendent and President effective immediately.

In a statement, the spokesperson said the trustees, “look forward to a prosperous future for all our students, staff and community members in West Kern.”
