Man pushing disabled vehicle dies after being struck by another car

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man is dead Thursday morning after pushing his disabled vehicle when he was hit from behind by another car on 7th Standard Road, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

The crash happened at 12:05 a.m. in the 3200 block of 7th Standard Road, just west of Zachary Avenue. When BPD officers arrived at the scene they found an adult man laying in the roadway with major injuries.

BPD said the man was pushing his disabled vehicle east on the roadway when another vehicle struck him from behind. The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with detectives investigation.

Emergency crews pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Officials believe drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.

The Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity at a later time. The investigation is ongoing.
