Triple-Digit Heat Set to Return to Central California This Week

Hanford, CA — Central California is set for a return of triple-digit heat by midweek, with temperatures rising well above seasonal averages. According to the National Weather Service, there is a 70-90% chance of temperatures reaching 100°F or higher in the Central Valley by Wednesday, with dry conditions persisting.

Sunday will see a brief cooldown, with afternoon highs in the low to mid-90s as an upper-level trough moves over the region. However, starting Monday, high pressure will build across the western United States, driving temperatures back up.

Low humidity and poor overnight recoveries in the mountains and deserts will contribute to fire weather concerns. The Climate Prediction Center predicts a continued trend of above-average temperatures for the next 8-14 days, especially in the San Joaquin Valley and Kern County Desert.
