Woman left with only the clothes on her back after officer involved shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ( KGET )—Shots were fired and a suspect was killed after an officer-involved shooting just after midnight Wednesday on the 200 block of Blomquist Drive.

Alyssa Buxbaum was taking a shower when the stranger kicked in her back door. “He tried to go in the bathroom,” said Buxbaum. “He just banged on the door twice and I was just dead silent on 911 texting 911. And then, he went into my room and just broke everything in there and then later I learned he set some of my clothes on fire.”

The Bakersfield Police Department says the man barricaded himself in the room and became assaultive toward officers.

That’s when police shot and killed the suspect. Buxbaum is still in shock. She’s staying with her sister. “Even them just coming through their own apartment door just freaks me out. I can’t stand the cars going by over here. Honestly, everything’s been freaking me out,” said Buxbaum.
