Gov. Newsom signs Borel Fire executive order supporting ongoing recovery efforts

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Governor Gavin Newsom has signed an executive order to support ongoing recovery efforts for the Borel Fire .

The executive order signed Friday includes provisions that expedite debris removal and clean up. It also provided more resources for recovery efforts for wildfires in San Bernardino, Orange and Riverside counties.

The devastating fire broke out in July in the mountains east of Bakersfield following a deadly crash off Highway 178 .

It quickly grew to nearly 60,000 acres and became the largest wildfire Kern County history .
