Jay Leno speaks at Kern County Law Enforcement Foundation’s ‘Officer of the Year’ banquet

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Law Enforcement Foundation hosted its annual “Officer of the Year” banquet at Mechanics Bank Convention Center in downtown Bakersfield Thursday night.

Comedian Jay Leno was the special guest for this year’s event.

“People always call the cops when something’s terrible, they don’t call just to say thank you. So I’d like to come by and just thank them for the work they do, I mean it’s a thankless job. I don’t know anyone else that would do it for that money,” Leno said.

A number of awards were handed out tonight to Kern law enforcement officers, dispatchers and everyday citizens who are making a difference in our community.
