Bakersfield Commons project’s first step – a Coffee Road warehouse complex

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — It’s not the retail center or multi-family housing project we’ve been hearing about for more than a decade, nor is it a baseball stadium or healthy lifestyles retreat — but it is progress.

Bakersfield Commons, the long delayed development on Coffee Road, just south of Rosedale Highway, is breaking ground on a large warehouse complex — a speculative project that the local broker involved with the project says has attracted preliminary interest from Fortune 500 companies.

Senior Vice President Wesley McDonald of ASU Commercial tells 17 News that the developer, Rexco Development, is calling the project Bakersfield Central Logistics Park.

The project, near the Lowe’s Home Improvement store, will include a 91,000-square-foot building on the northern portion of the property and a 209,000-square-foot structure on the south.
