BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Two people were wounded and a suspect was arrested after a shooting involving an “improvised firearm” on Buck Owens Boulevard on Friday, police said.
Police say officers were dispatched to the area of Buck Owens Boulevard and Orin Way for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived at the scene and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both victims were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition, according to police. The victims provided a description of the shooting suspect.
Police then found Jacob Avilez, who matched the description and was in possession of an improvised firearm.
Avilez was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, possession of a zip gun and drug related offenses.
