Chilly Start in Central California: Freeze Warnings and Light Rain Ahead

Central California woke up to freezing conditions today as temperatures dipped to the low 30s in the San Joaquin Valley and mid-20s in Kern County’s desert areas. A Freeze Warning was in effect until 8 AM, marking the season’s first widespread frost.

A weak storm system is expected tonight, bringing a 15-45% chance of light rain in Fresno County and northward. The Sierra Nevada around Yosemite may see light snow above 7,000 feet, with up to an inch possible.

The forecast for Tuesday through Friday is dry, with warming trends. However, a stronger system could arrive next weekend, bringing heavier rain and snow to the region. Fireplace use remains restricted in several counties due to air quality concerns.
