Meet the first babies born in Bakersfield in 2025

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The first baby born in 2025 in Bakersfield arrived as the clock struck midnight, officials at Dignity Health Bakersfield said.

Octavious Malachi Aguilar was born at midnight at Mercy Hospital Southwest, officials said in a release. Officially, Octavious was born 10 seconds into the new year weighing 6 pounds, 14 ounces to parents Veronica and Adam Aguilar.

At 12:40 a.m. a baby girl, Diana Lucia, was welcomed to the world by her mom at Adventist Health Bakersfield on Chester Avenue. Diana Lucia weighed in at 6 pounds and 13 ounces.

Then at 2:42 a.m. at Memorial Hospital, Cuevas was born to parents Yareli and Cristobal, officials said.
