The California Highway Patrol issued hundreds of citations and inspected dozens of commercial vehicles during a one day special enforcement operation in the Bakersfield area.
The operation took place on December 27 on State Route 99 and State Route 58 in Bakersfield, California.
The operation involved 29 CHP officers and Sergeants from the Bakersfield, Buttonwillow, Fort Tejon, KernCATT, and Central Division Commercial/SAFE divisions.

- 148 for speed
- 2 for commercial out of lane
- 54 for commercial speed
- 36 for mechanical violations
- 4 for cell phone violations
- 10 for seatbelt violations
- 1 for following too close
- 10 for seatbelt violations
- 6 for other commercial violations
- 12 warnings were issued
- 2 vehicles were impounded
- 69 commercial vehicles were inspected
- 13 drivers were placed out-of-service
- 12 vehicles were placed out-of-service
- 1 subject was arrested for DUI
- 1 occupied stolen vehicle was recovered
- 4 unoccupied stolen vehicles were recovered
