BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — On Friday, Jan. 3, District 2 supervisor Chris Parlier was back at the Edison Mobile Home Park speaking with residents and offering assistance.
Parlier’s office has been leading the charge in helping residents, even though the park falls under State jurisdiction.
The park has been without power since Dec. 8, when a three trailer fire took out the power, killed two women, and sparked a homicide investigation with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office. Residents have been running some power off of generators while getting food and water when they possible.
Just after Christmas, County Supervisor Chris Parlier sent Flood Ministries to the park to provide assistance to residents. Flood Ministries has been providing hot showers, taking headcounts of people who need shelter and those in need of temporary housing.
Chris Parlier was at the park on Sunday and returned again Friday.
“The county is really doing everything it can with all of our partners,” Parlier said. “This area falls under responsibility with HCD and we’re really trying to get them to the table to be able to do the things we should be able to do.”
