BAKERSFIELD, Calif KBAK/KBFX — The man accused of being the driver in 2011’s deadly hit and run case stood in front of a judge on Friday as David Lopez Lilly was arraigned in connection to the crash that killed Kern High School Police Chief Steven Alvidrez.
According to CHP, they investigated the fatal hit and run on Highway 99 at Pond Road and their investigation determined that David Lopez Lilly, 37, of Bakersfield was the driver at fault.
After fleeing the scene, it was speculated that Lilly fled the country to avoid apprehension. CHP investigators worked with FBI agents based in Guadalajara, Mexico as a federal warrant was issued for Lilly’s arrest.
CHP investigators learned that Lilly was living near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. CHP coordinated with the FBI agents and apprehended Lilly on Wednesday, January 15…
