BAKERSFIELD, Calif — (KGET) — A body found in a century-old vacant apartment complex in Oleander has been identified by his family as 34 year-old Carlos Marquez. The family held a vigil in his honor outside the building in which he died.
The story of Carlos Marquez is one of addiction and a family who tried to save him.
“He struggled with addiction, homelessness, and we battled and we fought, and we battled for the last four years, and we lost the battle, but we know now he’s in the hands of a merciful and loving God,” said Chris La Medica, Marquez’s father.
