Carport Fire Engulfs Vehicles, 2 Apartment Units in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., Mar. 11 (KNN) — A fast-moving blaze ripped through a carport and engulfed two apartment units while threatening other nearby residents early Tuesday morning.

The Bakersfield and Kern County Fire Departments responded to a reported structure fire in the 300 block of Monterey Street, near the intersection with Alta Vista Drive at approximately 2 a.m.

The fire started in a carport adjacent to an apartment complex and quickly engulfed two units.

Due to the fire’s proximity, firefighters evacuated several nearby units as a precaution. The Bakersfield Police Department assisted with traffic control, while Hall Ambulance was dispatched to the scene to address any potential injuries…
