Speed, alcohol believed to be factors in crash that killed 2 in SW Bakersfield: BPD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Two people were killed in a crash where speed and alcohol are likely factors early Sunday morning at southwest Bakersfield intersection, police said.

The Bakersfield Police Department said officers were called to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Coffee Road and Stockdale Highway at around 1:37 a.m. on March 16.

In a statement, police said two people traveling in a vehicle going southbound through the intersection were found suffering from major injuries. One of them was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and later pronounced dead. The driver and a third passenger were taken to a hospital with moderate injuries…
