Pedestrian suffers major injuries after being struck by 2 vehicles in SE Bakersfield crash: CHP

BAKERSFIELD, Calif (KGET) — A pedestrian was taken to a hospital with severe injuries after he was struck by two vehicles Saturday evening along East California Avenue, the California Highway Patrol said.

CHP said officers were called to the area of East California Avenue and Exchange Street for a report of a collision involving a pedestrian at at around 7:42 p.m. on March 15.

Investigators said an 18-year-old man was driving a Kia Rio eastbound on East California Avenue when a man crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk walked directly into the path of the Kia. A second driver in a Honda Odyssey, following the Kia Rio, struck the pedestrian a second time. Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with investigating officers, CHP said in a statement.

The pedestrian was taken to Kern Medical for treatment of undisclosed major injuries.
