KV girls track squad are champs at Delano

When the points were added up, it was the Lady Broncs girls track team that was crowned the champions at the Delano Relays. They would squeak past Golden Valley by one point. The Lady Broncs totaled 106.5 as a team. The squad from Golden Valley finished with a105.5 points to fall into the runner up spot. These two teams were the cream of the crop as they distanced themselves from the other 12 teams that competed on the day. The Lady Broncs and Golden Valley battled all the way through and had to survive a stoppage of the meet due to down pour. Both squads waited see who in the end would be declared the champions of the 2025 Delano Relays.

When the weather was deemed fit to run by the meet officials, the 4 x 400m team from Kern Valley was in the spot to clinch the team title. They needed at least a sixth-place finish or better to be crowned the champions. Streaking to Personal Record (PR) the team of Emily Blankenship, Kaya Manwell, Madelyn Beaton and Aspen Hacker ran a 4:56.30 to just get past North High and finish in the needed sixth spot. The celebration of winning the 2025 Delano Relays could begin. There were many other individual and team-oriented highlights for the Lady Broncs. This was truly a “team” effort by the Lady Broncs on the day.

Kern Valley won six events at the meet. They had 11 events where they were in the Top-10. On the day the Lady Broncs had five PR’s and just missed setting a school record. A. Hacker also set a milestone as she recorded a PR (11:43.95) by winning the 3200m race. This time also qualified her for the CIF Division Championship meet later in the season. She would also take the top spot in the 1600m. She ran the race in a time of 5.22. A. Hacker also helped out the Lady Broncs running to a second in the 4x 800m. She ran along with Greta Boettcher, Blankenship, and Kyla Hacker in a time of 10.55.78 (PR).
