Coroner identifies 50-year-old man found dead near Kern Riverbed

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the man found dead on the Kern Riverbed as 50-year-old Daniel Lee Painter of Bakersfield.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on March 24, 2025, at around 9:45 a.m., officers were called to an unknown situation in the area of the Kern Riverbed east of the Chester Avenue bridge.
