April is national Distracted Driving Awareness Month

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month and The California Highway Patrol reported nearly 100 deaths and 10,000 injuries in 2023 due to distracted driving.

Distracted driving includes texting and talking on the phone, putting on makeup and tending to kids in the backseat.

In 2009, a father said goodbye to his 5-year-old son at the bus stop. He didn’t know it would be their final farewell. Later that day, Zachary was crossing the streets with his classmates when the driver of a truck struck and killed him.
