BPD Impact Unit Team, city and mental health services clear encampments, make 19 arrests

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — On April 8, 2025, a coordinated effort by the Bakersfield Police Department Impact Team, the City of Bakersfield Code Enforcement Rapid Response Team, and Kern Mental Health led to the clearing of multiple encampments along the railroad tracks between Virginia and Potomac Avenues off South Williams Street.

The operation resulted in the clearing of 14 encampments.

Authorities issued five citations and took 11 dogs into temporary custody. Nineteen arrests were made on charges related to trespassing, outstanding arrest warrants, narcotics, and weapon violations…
