Suspect in Fresno State student’s death transferred to adult court

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man who was a teenager when arrested in the 2020 shooting death of a Fresno State student in Delano will have his case heard in adult court, a judge ruled Tuesday.

The case against Kevin Gonzalez was transferred from juvenile court, where’s he’s had multiple hearings since his March 2022 arrest, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Gonzalez underwent a transfer hearing, where a judge considers factors including criminal sophistication, prior criminal history and the seriousness of the offense before deciding whether the case stays in juvenile court — where penalties are less severe — or is moved to adult court…
