Man gets 16 months for DUI rollover crash on Panama Lane

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A 22-year-old man was sentenced to 16 months in custody after pleading no contest to driving drunk in a rollover crash that injured his passenger, according to court records.

Julio Vega-Moreno was sentenced Friday. He pleaded no contest last month to a charge of DUI causing injury.

On June 29, police were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash in the 12300 block of Panama Lane. Both Vega-Moreno and his passenger — who suffered serious injuries — were taken to a hospital.

A preliminary alcohol screening performed about three-and-a-half hours after the crash showed Vega-Moreno’s blood-alcohol content at 0.11%, above the legal limit of 0.08%, according to police reports. He also did not have a driver’s license, police said…
