Sunday night’s Mojave Desert earthquake: a nudge in the night

Philip Mendoza of Barstow said Sunday’s earthquake in the Mojave Desert nudged him awake.

At about 11:46 p.m., a magnitude 3.2 earthquake struck about 9 miles west-southwest of Johannesburg, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake was just south of Garlock and about 25 miles north of Edwards Air Force Base and Boron, near Highway 58 in Kern County…
