BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — On May 2, 2025, deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Gang Suppression Unit, North Area Substation deputies, and the Taft Police Department, executed a search warrant in the 500 block of Garfield Avenue in Taft.
The operation led to the arrest of 30-year-old Shawn Dakota Smith after a standoff for false imprisonment
