KHSD to propose changes to policy about protecting students’ information from immigration enforcement

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern High School District made proposed revisions to the school district’s response to immigration enforcement and protection of students’ personal information from outside agencies in its newly revised policy.

During the district board meeting May 5, the board is expected to receive the first reading of several proposed revisions in the district’s existing policies, according to the meeting agenda.

Among them, Board Policy 5125 — a policy regarding student records — incorporated some changes to how the school district will respond to immigration enforcement on its student body.
