Kern County Sheriff’s Office explains use of Rook vehicle in Oildale standoff

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said they are aware of the community’s concerns and questions about the condition of the home where the standoff happened earlier this week. They explained why a piece of armored equipment was used during a standoff with a man accused of shooting at SWAT members.

The standoff happened on May 5 as KCSO tried to find the alleged suspect, 37-year-old Keith Julifs. Julifs had felony warrants for charges including illegal possession of firearm and felony evading.
