KCSO’s property, evidence storage room to move after nearly 70 years due to ‘unsanitary conditions’

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. The Grand Jury inspected the current KCSO Property Room located 1501 L Street – which was established in 1957 – on Dec. 17, according to a report by the Grand Jury. The room stores evidence and property surrendered to law enforcement agencies.

According to the report, the Property Room on L Street lacked storage space for additional homicide and sexual assault evidence in the basement and was running out of space for sexual assault evidence. The poor air conditioning also raised concerns about the evidence degrading.
