Man guilty of leading Delano police on 32-mile high-speed chase

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man who led authorities on a lengthy high-speed chase that ended when he lost control and hit a fence was found guilty Thursday of recklessly evading a peace officer and acquitted of driving under the influence of a drug.

Prosecutors say Johnathan Torres faces up to three years at next month’s sentencing hearing. No one was injured.

“This was an incredibly reckless and dangerous act that put countless lives at risk,” Assistant District Attorney Joseph Kinzel said in a release. “Torres’ conduct exhibited a blatant disregard for public safety, and such behavior carries legal consequences.”…
