Man arrested after alleged attempted murder near Lamont

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A 32-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after sheriff’s deputies investigated two separate incidents in the area of South Fairfax Road.

Michael Ortiz, 32, was arrested for alleged attempted murder, elder abuse, burglary, vandalism, false imprisonment, robbery, damage to a wireless device, grand theft, battery and petty theft, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

On Tuesday morning, sheriff’s deputies said an elderly man was assaulted by Ortiz in the 9100 block of South Fairfax Road. The elderly man allegedly had a phone destroyed, a phone stolen, along with various tools and had a blanket wrapped around his head, according to the sheriff’s office.
