National Police Week ceremonies to honor fallen officers, road closures set for Friday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — As part of National Police Week on Friday, three ceremonies will be held in downtown Bakersfield and another in south Bakersfield to honor fallen officers. The first ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. in front of the Bakersfield Police Department headquarters, located at the Peace Officers’ Memorial, at 1415 Truxtun Avenue.

The second ceremony will also take place at 10 a.m. in front of the Kern County Peace Officers’ Memorial on Truxtun Avenue. The event, presented by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, will feature a speech from Sheriff Donny Youngblood and a 21-gun salute.
