Man gets year in jail for resisting arrest at 2020 protest in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man who was charged with throwing rocks at Bakersfield police officers during a protest in 2020 has been sentenced to a year in jail.

Andres Garcia, 23, was also placed on probation for two years at Thursday’s sentencing, court records show. He pleaded no contest last month to felony resisting arrest. Other charges were dismissed, among them assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.
