BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man allegedly drove onto Lerdo Jail property before colliding with a vehicle with seven passengers, including five children on Tuesday, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, a man drove onto Lerdo Jail bypassing security at around 7:08 p.m. May 20 before fleeing.

The suspect then drove to the Oildale area where he was seen driving a dark-colored sedan at a high speed eastbound on China Grade Loop toward Manor Street. He collided with an SUV at the intersection of Manor Street and China Grade Loop, according to officials.
The SUV contained two adults and five children estimated between the ages of 1 to 10, KCSO said. One child and one adult in the SUV, along with the suspect, suffered severe injuries.
