DUI driver gets 6 years, 8 months Stella’s Sandtrap crash, injuring patrons: Court records

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A 23-year-old man who crashed into Stella’s Sandtrap on Niles Street last summer, injuring at least three patrons, was sentenced to six years and eight months in prison, according to Kern County Superior Court records.

Michael Gonzalez pleaded no contest to driving under the influence of alcohol, causing bodily injury, and evading an officer back in April, according to court records.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on June 16, 2024, at around 12:10 a.m., officers tried to stop a vehicle in the area of Mount Vernon and Niles Street.

According to police, the vehicle hit a vehicle traveling northbound on Oswell Street, resulting in no injuries. Gonzalez then lost control and collided with two parked cars in the parking lot of Stella’s Sandtrap, located at 3133 Niles Street…
