Fresno, Calif. – A dangerous heat wave is expected to grip Central California starting Friday morning, with temperatures soaring as high as 105 degrees in parts of the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra foothills.
According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, an Extreme Heat Watch is in effect from Friday morning through Sunday morning. The advisory covers a wide swath of the state, including Fresno, Bakersfield, Merced, Visalia, and Yosemite Valley, where prolonged exposure could lead to heat-related illnesses.
Residents in cities such as Clovis, Porterville, and Madera should limit outdoor activity, especially during peak afternoon hours.
