BPD: Officer fired at ‘aggressive’ dog after suspect released it from kennel

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — An officer shot at a dog after the suspect, accused of violating a restraining order, released it from a kennel during a foot pursuit. The dog is in the veterinary hospital undergoing treatment.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at around 8:35 p.m., officers were called to a reported restraining order violation in progress at a home in the 3300 block of Margalo Court.
