TOPEKA (KSNT) — A Georgia food company is recalling more than 250,000 pounds of canned beef stew sold nationwide, as the stew may be contaminated with a foreign material.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on May 28 that Hormel Foods Corporation, based out of Georgia, is recalling 256,185 pounds of Dinty Moore Beef Stew. The stew, which was sold in 20-ounce cans, may contain a foreign contaminant identified as “specifically wood,” according to the announcement.

Three customers had contacted Hormel Foods Corporation reporting that they found wood in the stew, the FSIS said. No reports of injuries had been recorded as of Wednesday.
Consumers who may have purchased the recalled stew are being asked to dispose of the cans or return them to their place of purchase for a refund.
The affected products were produced on Feb. 4, 2025. The recalled cans were printed with “BEST BY FEB 2028” and the lot code “T02045.” They also bear an establishment number reading “EST 199G.”…
