Mark Luque lands new job after surprise resignation as head of Bakersfield City School District

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The former head of the Bakersfield City School has a new job, less than 48 hours after resigned as superintendent.

Mark Luque has been appointed to a brand new role within the Kern County Superintendent of Schools — Chief Training & Advancement Officer.

KCSOS spokesperson Rob Meszaros said Superintdendent John Mendiburu has been developing the position for a year and just recently finalized the hiring of Luque.

The job is an appointment and was not subject to a competitive hiring process Meszaros said. Meszaros also says Luque will not start the formal hiring process until the start of the new school year in August…
