2 Wasco men convicted of assault after demanding gang taxes

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Two men face decades in prison for a beating and shooting that occurred after they demanded taxes on behalf of a Wasco street gang, prosecutors said.

Joel Arrazate Jr., 26, and Anthony Arreola, 25, were found guilty of multiple felonies last week and face 28 years in prison at next month’s sentencing hearing.

On Aug. 7, 2022, the two men — members of the Varrio Wasco Rifa street gang — went to an apartment where they demanded taxes from a father and son, according to a District Attorney’s Office release…
