Most Kern County Rite Aid stores to close amid latest bankruptcy filing

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — At least 15 Rite Aid locations across Kern County are set to close, including most locations in Bakersfield, amid its second bankruptcy filing in court.

The pharmacy chain filed its second bankruptcy back in May, the second such filing in just two years. Rite Aid said the filing was to pursue “a strategic and value-maximizing sale process for substantially all of its assets.”

The latest filing in a New Jersey bankruptcy court gave an updated list of locations, which includes most of the chain’s U.S. locations.

Out of Kern County’s 23 Rite Aid locations listed on their website, 15 stores could close in the coming weeks, pending approvals or objections in court…
