Man accused of vandalizing Kern County Veterans Memorial to be sent to mental health hospital

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man accused of setting a fire that damaged the Kern County Veterans Memorial will be sent to a mental health hospital after being found not competent to stand trial.

Prosecutors say Oscar Ibarra, 40, had a hearing Tuesday and was ordered committed to a hospital for two years. He was still listed in jail as of Wednesday afternoon.
