Bakersfield is 70th most expensive city to rent in US: report

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The City of Bakersfield was ranked 70th in the list of most expensive cities in the United States to pay rent in, according to a report published by Zumper, a rental platform based in California.

According to Zumper, the national rent report is put together by gathering data from over 1 million active listings across the U.S. to calculate the median rents for the 100 most populous cities in the country, as well as nearly 300 additional cities in major metro areas.

The median rent for a one-bedroom unit in Bakersfield in June is $1,150, according to the report. This records a 1.8% increase compared to May and a 4.5% increase compared to June 2024.

On the other hand, a two-bedroom unit maintained its median rent from May at $1,450. This price is also 1.4% lower compared to the previous year, the report says…
