Man arrested for attempted kidnapping after grabbing child at Stockdale Hwy convenience store: Bakersfield PD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A 54-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for attempted kidnapping and sex crimes against a child after allegedly grabbing a child’s hands at a Bakersfield convenience store, according to police.

The Bakersfield Police Department said officers were contacted for a report of inappropriate contact with a child that happened on June 30 at a convenience store in the 3600 block of Stockdale Highway.

Investigators were told a man grabbed a child’s hands while they were inside the store before the child’s mother confronted him. The man left the store after the incident.

Police said they were able to identify the man using surveillance video from inside the store. The man was identified by police as Tino Ibach, 54. Ibach was arrested at his home the next day, according to a statement.

Ibach was booked into the Lerdo jail on multiple charges including battery, lewd or lascivious acts with a child, attempted kidnapping and contact a minor with intent to commit sexual offense. Bail was set at $250,000, according to inmate records…
